'Captain Marvel' Set for Big Box Office Debut Analysts expect the Disney flick to make up to $120 million in its opening weekend. 'Captain Marvel' stars Oscar winner Brie Larson as the titular hero. Larson plays Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot who is granted superhuman powers. The film, which takes place in 1995, features Samuel L. Jackson as a young Nick Fury. Larson is also expected to appear as the character in 'Avengers: Endgame.' 'Captain Marvel' will fly onto the big screen March 8. 'Endgame' then releases soon afterwards on April 26.
