From an early life in a big, baptist family to Grammy-nominated artist and actress, Janelle Monáe has chased her dream anywhere and everywhere. She got her early start in a playwrights program, talent shows and then to school in NYC and Atlanta where she studied the arts.

Monáe got her big break when she met Sean “Diddy” Combs who signed her onto his record label. Since, she has created “The ArchAndroid,” “The Electric Lady,” and “Dirty Computer”—which received a 2019 Grammy nomination for Best Album of the year. One of her most popular songs and music videos is “Pynk” off of “Dirty Computer” which features Tessa Thompson.

Monáe has mastered the big screen with her roles in “Hidden Figures,” “Moonlight,” “Welcome to Marwen,” and “Rio 2.” You can look for her in upcoming the upcoming animated flick “UglyDolls.”

Besides acting and singing, Monáe is also the CEO of Wondaland Arts Society and dedicates herself to social causes through activism.
After Prince’s passing, she reevaluated what she wanted her legacy; thus beginning her journey of sharing about her mental health and sexuality. Monáe then and now, is a pop culture force in film and music.
