2018 Named One of
Earth's Warmest Years According to NASA scientists, last year was the fourth-hottest ever, since data collecting on the planet started in 1880. 2018 only ranks behind the
four previous years. This means that the earth's top 5 hottest periods have been in the last half decade. The NOAA adds that the U.S.
mostly avoided the heat in 2018, recording its 14th hottest year
on record. The United States was still hit with an enormous amount of rain with last year being the
third-wettest in its history. The NOAA says this is due to rising amounts of evaporation from increasing ocean temperatures.
