The ancient scriptures have often mentioned that the Parashiva or Sadashiva performs five prominent actions, namely creation, preservation, dissolution, concealing grace, and revealing grace.
The other scriptures state that Sadashiva has five heads with distinct attributes, each denoting one of the five tattvas (Pancha Mahabhuta).
Vastu Shastra also reinforces the aspects of Lord Shiva into five different dimensions.
According to Shaiva Agama, each of these attributes and actions are co-related to five aspects of Shiva which have their own identity and names.
These five aspects are;
The first aspect is Sadyojata that faces the west side. It promotes the creation and Prithvi (Earth).
The second form that faces the north side is called Vamadeva. It sustains everything and represents Jala (Water).
Aghora is the third manifest facing the south direction and is closely associated with the Rudra Avatar. It represents dissolution or rejuvenation in the form of Agni (Fire).
Tatpurusha is the fourth one in the list, which conceals the graces just like the Gyani Rishi or Yogi. This form faces the east and represents Vayu (Air).
Isana is the fifth aspect of Sadashiva that reveals the graces. In a way, it is associated with all that exists which makes it most significant. It looks upward that is North-eastern dimension hence is related to the Aakash (Aether).
