In Hindu mythologies, Himavat, Himavant or Parvata are the Sanskrit names of the personified Hindu deity of the Himalayas.
This Himalayan kingdom is mentioned in major sacred texts, including the epic Mahabharata, Brahmanda Purana and Kena Upanishad.
Himavat is identified as the ruler of the Himalayan mountain range, who had three daughters, Ragini, Kutila, and Parvati.
In few versions, it is stated that Himavat fathered the river goddess, Ganga, as his eldest daughter Ragini and Goddess Parvati is believed to be his long existed daughter.
Along with these three daughters, Himavat and his wife, Menavati (Mena) also had one son called Sunabha who was the youngest of these siblings.
Himavat is extensively mentioned in the Hindu sacred texts and folklore, mostly related to either his mighty kingdom or his divine daughter, Parvati.
