Many of us must be well aware of the fact that the Hindu monkey god is actually known by about 108 names in total, but can we guess us the meaning of each name. In today's video, we are listing out some of the prominent names of Lord Hanuman with its significance.

1. The earliest familiar names given to Lord Hanuman were believed to be Anjaneya and Anjani-Putra or -Suta, which means son of Anjana. Devotees have also named him Kesari Nandan, that is the son of Kesari.
2. In Sanskrit, Hanu means jaw or cheeks and -man (or -mant) means swollen. The name Hanuman or Hanumant was given to him for his disfigured jaw or puffy cheeks.
3. It is said that the since Anjana was blessed with a child after he was carried in her womb by Hindu god of Air, who was himself called by many names like Pavan, Vayu, or Marut.
4. This is the reason why Lord Hanuman is known with the names like Marutinandan, Maruti, Pavanputra, or Vayu-Putra.
5. Lord Hanuman is commonly titled as Ramabhakta for being devoted to Lord Rama.
6. His other names include; Chiranjeevi (an immortal person), Mahadhyuta (the most radiant) and Chaturbahave, Chaturbahu or Chaturbhuj (four-armed).
7. Kamaroopin signifies his ability to change forms and Surarchita means he is worshiped by celestial beings.
8. He is also famous as Sankata Mochana, the one who liberates from dangers and Vanara Dev stands for the Monkey god.
