1 Angaraki Chaturthi is the only Sankashti Chaturthi which falls on Tuesday and is considered highly favorable among all days. 2 This day is named after a great sage called Rishi Angarak, who was an adherent devotee of Lord Ganesha. 3 The Hindu teaching states that on Magh Krishna Chaturthi he pleased Lord Ganesha with his penance. 4 Rishi Angarak wished that his name should be associated with Lord Ganesha. 5 Lord Ganesha blessed him and proclaimed that this day will be known by his name. 6 People also believe that on this day Lord Shiva declared that his son Ganesha will be superior to all the gods. 7 The devotees observe a strict fast on this day and recite Ganapati Atharvashesha before breaking the fast.
