1 In Hindu families, welcoming a bride into the house for the first time holds diverse rituals. 2 One of which is Griha Pravesh, where the bride has to toss a Kalash (a pot filled with rice) with her right leg. 3 The pot needs to be placed on the threshold that is the main entrance door. 4 It is noted to be essential as it marks the beginning of the couple’s new household. 5 The bride’s entry into the home is also said to imprint the entrance of Goddess Laksmi. 6 This ritual also said to invite prosperity, peace, better wealth and well-being into the couple's home. 7 The usage of the right leg in this tradition brings good fortune and thus has great reverence. 8 Then the bride takes her first steps into the house after dipping her feet in wet Kumkum.
