The rapper was born at a military base in Germany and later raised in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He gained popularity with his debut mixtape, The Come Up, in 2007. Cole later signed to Jay-Z’s label, Roc Nation, in 2009. His debut studio album, ‘Cole World: the Sideline Story,’ debuted at No. 1 on the 'Billboard' 200. All five of his studio albums have reached No. 1 on the chart. The rapper is known for going “platinum with no features” because of his albums 2014 Forest Hills Drive, 4 Your Eyes Only and KOD. Cole created his own label, Dreamville Records, in 2007. He also founded the nonprofit Dreamville Foundation in 2011 to “bridge the gap” and uplift urban youth. Happy Birthday, J. Cole!
