DIY Lego Minifigure Display Case

  • 5 yıl önce
Making custom display case for a friend that collects minifigures.

A perfect excuse to use the wood shaper I restored last week!

Stuff I used:
Mahogany wood for the frame 60x10mm in section and 1.5m long to make one case.
2mm thick plexiglass for the front
3mm thick white opaque plexiglass for the back

The other one you see at the end that I made off camera has a pine (fir) frame and I added a strip of white led just behind the back white plexiglass to make it light up. Doesn't show well in camera but looks nice in real (to me at least!).

List of operation:
0:06 Marking cut with marking knife
0:16 Cutting on band saw
0:40 sanding 45° on the belt sander
1:23 Cutting groove for the 2mm front clear plexiglass
1:43 Cutting slot for the back piece
2:37 Hand sanding up to 320 grit
3:12 Boiled linseed oil as finish
3:40 Scoring the plexiglass to size with utility blade
4:03 "Cutting" by bending on the line with a couple of straight pieces of wood (works great)
4:31 Glueing with pva
5:10 Very useful band clamp for square stuff
5:25 Cleaning up edges by rasping and sanding with wax (wax and sawdust fill small gaps once cured)
6:24 Dividing back plexiglass (odd number to fit the minifigure set)
7:03 Marking drill location with soldering iron
7:18 Drilling holes larger than screw
7:48 Marking hole center and drilling with bit smaller than screw
8:20 Painting bricks with gray primer
8:40 Assembling back plexiglass and bricks with screw
9:30 Tiny screw to hold back plexiglass in place
