00:00I am investigating the biggest story of my career, and I'm not getting up without a fight.
00:07Shoot the Messenger is a crime drama that looks at Daisy, who's a reporter.
00:14She stumbles onto and witnesses a murder.
00:17Somebody connects to a source of hers.
00:21She ends up working with, or I guess working in conflict with her lover,
00:27who happens to be the lead detective on the case.
00:30As she goes deeper, the mystery gets deeper and larger and more political,
00:36and involves corruption, cops.
00:38You've got to walk away from this. This story's dangerous.
00:41Through a series of twists and turns, she discovers who the actual murderer is,
00:47and then just the story goes all kind of crazy sideways.
00:50What a tangled web they weave.
00:53My name is Elise Levesque, and I play Daisy Channing, an ambitious young reporter.
00:58She's so desperate to find the truth in everything outside of herself,
01:02because she doesn't want to look at herself and look at her own truths,
01:05because there's a lot of baggage in there that she just doesn't want to have to sift through.
01:09She's new. She makes mistakes. In many ways, she's naive, and she has a lot to learn,
01:14but I think that there's something really pure and exciting in her naivety.
01:19This story's worth pursuing. I don't want to have to write your obituary.
01:22She's got a great thing going on on the side with this really handsome detective.
01:27They've got like a good give-and-take kind of work relationship.
01:31There's a certain craziness about her that he likes. It makes him feel alive.
01:36She's like the spark.
01:38They have sort of understanding. They enjoy each other,
01:41but then they also know how to use that to their advantage.
01:45You know, what would really help my memory is if I got a name for the victim.
01:48Yeah. Why would I do that?
01:51And then there's this interaction with Simon, who works with Daisy,
01:55and there's some sort of triangle thing happening there.
01:59Daisy! Come in here!
02:02Mary Foster is the editor of the Gazette, and essentially my boss.
02:08And ultimately I think the woman that Daisy aspires to be.
02:12We cast Alex Kingston as our Mary, and wow, what a fantastic actress.
02:18We were so pleased to get her, and I think that Alex embodied the character to perfection.
02:25Mary is tough with Daisy, but I think it's basically because she sees probably herself in Daisy.
02:33Doing okay?
02:35Someone shot at me, so a good day.
02:39Shoot the Messenger is dangerous, real.
02:42Drama. Action.
02:45It's sexy. It's edgy.
02:47Honestly, the best.
02:50Everyone is dead except you.
02:52This is going to put you on the front page of the world, Miss Daisy.
03:05.
