Actor cutout scaffolding collapses as fans climb on top in South India province

A large scaffolding featuring a larger-than-life print out of a Bollywood actor fell to the ground in Villupuram, a district located in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu, on Thursday.

Fans climbed on to the scaffolding to put a garland and pour milk on the cutout as part of a cinema tradition when big films hit the screens in India. Unable to withstand the weight, the scaffolding then collapsed, taking the fans down with it.

According to local media, six people were injured and brought to a hospital for treatment.
