Macron Promises a Raise to Minimum Wage in France The French President made the promise during a televised address. He said the minimum wage would increase by 100 euros per month beginning in 2019. The statement follows four weekends of violent protests instigated by the "yellow vest" protestors. The Yellow Vests are protesting rises in fuel tax and living costs. The also have accused Macron of being out of touch with their needs and concerns. During his address, Emmanuel Macron, via BBC News Macron also promised to cancel a tax increase on low-income pensioners and taxes on overtime pay. He balked on reinstating a tax on the wealthy.
