'Crazy Rich Asians' Bombs at the
Box Office in China Analysts say the comedy will be lucky to make more than
$1 million its opening weekend. The film earned about $410,000 on Friday
and $400,000
on Saturday. The number of screenings was also slashed from 32,000 on Friday to
18,700 a day later. The dismal debut is a disappointment
for producers of the film, who had hoped the romantic comedy would be a hit in the world's second largest movie market. Despite the result in China,
'Crazy Rich Asians' was a groundbreaking hit in the U.S.,
scoring over $174 million. It also did well in much of East Asia, including Singapore where most of the film is set.
