Interstellar Object May Have Been Alien Probe, Harvard Paper Says The object was nicknamed Oumuamua, meaning, “a messenger that reached out from the distant past” in Hawaiian. Scientists have been trying to explain its unusual features and origin. Researchers first thought it was a comet
or an asteroid. A new paper by Harvard researchers raises the possibility that it might have an “artificial origin.” Paper, via  ‘Astrophysical Journal Letters’ The scientists theorize that the object's high speed and unusual trajectory could be the result of it no longer being operational. Researchers are now encouraged to push the search for other interstellar objects in our sky.
