The BMW M3 is really a high-performance version on the 3 Series, put together by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 designs have been produced by the subsequent generations with the BMW 3 Series. The initial model was for sale in a coupé body style. At times the M3 has also been for sale in saloon and convertible body styles. Due to the coupé and convertible models no more being part on the 3 Series range between 2015, the F82/F83 coupe and convertible models at the moment are called the M4 in line with the newly introduced 4 Series. The M3 name remains available solely to the saloon version. Upgrades in the standard 3 Series automobiles include more robust and responsive engines, improved handling/suspension/braking systems, aerodynamic body enhancements, lightweight components and interior/exterior accents together with the tri-colour "M" (Motorsport) emblem.
