The World's Longest Passenger Airplane Flight Launches Back in May, Singapore Airlines said it would operate the longest airline route in the world, from the airline's hub at Singapore Changi International Airport to Newark Liberty International Airport. The flight takes 18 hours, 25 minutes on the outbound and an even longer 18 hours, 45 minutes on the return leg. The route covers a distance of approximately 9,521 miles. This is nearly 500 miles longer than the next-longest airline route, which is Qatar Airlines' service between Auckland, New Zealand and Doha. For the flights, Singapore Airlines will use the Airbus A350-900ULR. The jet’s composite structure is stronger than the metal fuselages of conventional aircraft. It also allows for better cabin pressurization and humidity, all of which should reduce passenger fatigue.
