Indonesia quake: Video shows moment trees collapse and citizens flee

Mass panic strikes as a 7.4 earthquake tore through Indonesia on Friday. More than 800 people died in the disaster.

Footage shows people screaming, stumbling and running as a tree topples over in the chaos, the ground cracks beneath them and buildings are left decimated.

"The video was recorded when we were at the soccer field of the Balaroa Housing Complex, West Palu, Central Sulawesi province, on Friday (28/9), around 6:00 p.m. WITA (central Indonesian time)," said the filmer.

"At that time residents gathered in the field and away from buildings and houses that were destroyed after the city of Palu was struck," they added, noting that the second, stronger one causedthe chaos in the video.

"The shock of the earthquake was so powerful and long that our village was destroyed," they added.
