Mark Hinueber, the Review-Journal's former lawyer and defender of the First Amendment, died in Las Vegas on Aug. 23 from prostate cancer. Hinueber, who was 66, worked at the RJ and other newspapers for 42 years. On Saturday, his friends and family gathered for a memorial service. Hinueber's brother said he was always a newspaper man. He served as the RJ's vice president, general counsel and human resources director before retiring in January 2016, his obituary said. On Aug. 15, Hinueber wrote one last Facebook post. "Unfortunately I will not get to see my new granddaughter's cherubic face," he wrote. "I imagine she will be beautiful and intelligent. I pray she will also be kind."
