Ben Carson, the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, has linked the sexual assault allegation lodged against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh to a socialist movement.
According to CNN, during a speech at the conservative Values Voter Summit Friday, Carson lamented that people were taking for granted the notion that "a person is innocent until proven guilty."
He went on to say, "If you really understand the big picture of what's going on, then what's going on with Judge Kavanaugh will make perfectly good sense to you because there've been people in this country for a very long time, go[ing] all the way back to the Fabians, who have wanted to fundamentally change this country. They don't like what America is and what it represents."
CNBC reports, "Fabians" refer to the U.K. socialist group the "Fabian Society" which set up an American chapter in Boston in 1895, but no longer operates in the U.S.
Carson then explained that to effect this change, they must "control the educational system, the media, and the courts."
He stated: "The first two, they have, the courts, they thought they had, and it was snatched out from under their noses in November of 2016….They're like wet hornets...and the further they get away from being able to control the courts, the more desperate they become."
Nevertheless, the Secretary did not provide evidence that socialism was, in fact, a driving factor in the movement against Kavanaugh's nomination.
