Massive waves on North Carolina beach as Hurricane Florence nears

Beaches along the Carolina coast saw massive waves on Thursday, September 13, as Hurricane Florence drew nearer.

This video, taken on Topsail Beach in Pender County at around noon, shows the large currents.

Florence slowed to a Category 2 hurricane earlier in the day, but authorities warned of dangerous storm surges, coastal flooding and historic rainfall likely to strike the barrier islands.
