Instagram Provides Pop-Up
for Opioid Addiction Support Instagram recently rolled out a pop-up to
provide drug-addiction resources to its users. If certain hashtags, like "opioid,"
are entered then the pop-up will appear. From there, the user can
access support resources
that Instagram developed
in partnership with: The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence
and the Partnership for Drug Free Kids. Advice for family and friends of
people with substance abuse problems
will also be made available. In the past, Instagram has blocked such hashtags Similar resources also exist on
Facebook. Drug-related topics prompt
a substance support box to appear. Though Instagram's new pop-up doesn't really combat the issue of actual substance sales, it does provide an avenue of help to those in need.
