Coconut Oil Is 'Pure Poison,' Says Harvard Professor Coconut oil has long been considered a health food and even a "superfood." But Harvard Professor Karin Michels is slamming the substance as “one of the worst things you can eat" and
"pure poison." During a recent lecture lecture at the University of Freiburg in Germany, the academic warned of the health risks associated with coconut oil. Michels insists that the oil poses a great risk to heart health. The ingredient contains more than 80% saturated fat, more than twice the amount in lard. Coconut oil, which is entirely comprised of saturated fatty acids, was found to spike LDL, or "bad cholesterol" levels, in seven controlled trials. British Nutrition Foundation, via 'The Guardian'
