Militants have launched an attack this morning (August 21) on government buildings in Kabul.
Mortars struck the Presidential Palace and other buildings of the diplomatic quarter of the Afghan capital.
The military intervened using a helicopter to attack the armed militants.
The attack came following President Ashraf Ghani's bid for a ceasefire during Monday's Eid celebrations.
