Two injured when road 'explodes' in heatwave

Two people on a scooter were sent crashing to the ground recently in China when the road surface beneath them appeared to explode.
A remarkable security camera video, which was filmed in Baoding City in northern China’s Hebei Province on August 11, showed the scooter driver and passenger being sent crashing to the ground as the road beneath them burst open.
According to local media, the road surface must have expanded and then suddenly cracked due to soaring temperatures in the region.
Fortunately, the pair escaped with nothing more serious than a few scratches.
