Deep Floodwater Seen in Lynchburg Amid Fears Dam Could Fail

Areas of Lynchburg, Virginia, were flooded on August 2 and 3, causing evacuations, and damage to property.The National Weather Service said the College Lake Dam, near Lynchburg, was “above capacity” and that there was some uncontrolled flow from it. It was being closely monitored, they said.The Lynchburg Department of Emergency Services said the threat of the dam failing caused evacuations for residents in the Blackwater Creek Trail area.
