Pope Francis has officially made the death penalty “never admissible” in the Catholic Church. According to CNN, he said they would work towards abolishing its practice around the world. The Vatican said the death penalty is “an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person.” This has been a change in the making since John Paul II, who served in 1978 to 2005. Since then, the Popes after him have also condemned the death penalty.
