This video is an audio demonstration of how sounds a simple Granular Synthesis. This is an algorithm built with the software MaxMSP. I elaborate an audio file with the granular synthesis using a fixed triangular envelope. I drive three variables:
1) on the left the file reading speed and its direction
2) in the centre the frequency of the grain
3) on the right the sound's duration of every grain.
This algorthm is the base for the electronic part of my piece "Petali di grano" available here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwdGGFGWii8 It's for cello and electronics.
At the output of the algorithm there is a random panning (not visible in the patch) which moves the grains in the stereo space.
I chose Bruce Almighty's audio because it's funny.
