Dashcam video released by the Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) on July 25 shows the final moments of a July 18 collision involving a semi and four other vehicles near Coyote Springs, Nevada, that left two people dead.A statement from the NHP Southern Command said a Chevy Malibu, a Nissan Titan pickup, a Sterling tractor trailer and a Toyota Yaris were stopped behind a construction crew flagger who was halting traffic for pilot car operations on US93 at mile marker 63.The NHP said the driver of another tractor trailer approached the stopped vehicles but failed to brake, striking the Toyota Yaris and sending both the driver and passenger flying from the car due to the force of the impact. They were later pronounced dead at the scene. After striking the Yaris, the truck continued to hit the Sterling semi, the Nissan Titan pickup truck and the Chevy Malibu. The drivers of the other vehicles sustained non-life threatening injuries, according to the NHP.Police named the deceased driver of the Yaris as 50-year-old Robert Barns from Emmet, Idaho, and his passenger as 34-year-old Christopher Markley from Boise, Idaho.“Investigators believe drowsy driving was a factor in this crash,” the NHP said.
