According to Reuters, the US dollar has been on the rise for months. Over the last week, the US dollar index has made significant gains, hitting a year high for the second time in recent days. When compared to six other major currencies, the dollar is up nearly 7-percent over the last three months. But the dollar's strength has been growing since 2015, when the Federal Reserve began increasing the federal funds rate.
