Timothy Scott was flying his drone when he encountered a giant humpback whale on its back just off the shore of the town of Angourie, New South Wales.

On closer inspection, the magnificent beast was dead.

Drone footage captured on July 16 shows the incredible moment a great white shark tracks the whale carcass, hoping to get a bite.

“The whale was drifting into the famous surfing reserve of Angourie before some local fisherman dragged it out to sea to stop it beaching,” writes Scott.
