Drake’s ‘Scorpion’ Smashes First-Day Streaming Records No only has Drake been crowned the RIAA’s Top Certified Singles Artist ever, but his latest 25-track album may become the first to ever log
1 billion streams in its first week. ‘Scorpion’ debuted on Friday, logging 132 million Spotify streams worldwide within its first 24 hours of release. Spotify tweeted that the album was streamed more than 10 million times per hour that day. ‘Rolling Stone’ reported the album was streamed over 170 million times on Apple Music on Friday. ‘Scorpion’ has now dethroned Drake’s 2017 album, “More Life,” as Apple Music’s record-holder for first-day streams. The album’s two lead singles are eligible for platinum certifications, with “God’s Plan” going platinum 8 times and “Nice For What" going platinum three times.
