Former US Attorneys Urge Sessions To End Family Separations
  • 6 years ago
According to Business Insider, a bipartisan group of former US attorneys are calling for Attorney General Jeff Sessions to end the Trump administration's policy of detaining immigrant children at the US-Mexico border. In the letter, the group of attorneys says they were "horrified" by the policy's "tragic and unsustainable" consequences. The "zero tolerance" immigration policy, which was introduced by Sessions in May, has drawn growing backlash. The policy has caused a spike in the number of migrant children in US custody from March to April, when over 10,000 were in detention centers. Since October 2017, at least 2,700 families have reportedly been separated at the border.
