The Best Time of Day to Get Everything Done at Work We pack our work days with meeting and deadlines but despite what we think, our internal body clocks are running the show. We all have a set schedule for the best time of day to concentrate, think of new ideas, and experience peak performance. Author Daniel Pink has laid out the rules for the best workday in his book, "When: The Scientific Secrets of Perfect Timing." Schedule important meetings and calls in the morning when we are happiest. Our mood becomes more negative as the day goes on. Your logic and deduction are also sharpest in the morning, making it the best time to do critical analyses. Save mundane chores for the afternoon, when our peak alertness and energy levels plummet. The afternoon slump is a great time for creativity when our body clocks stop forcing us to guard against distractions. The worst time of day for your brain is around 2 pm or 3 pm. It’s the perfect time for a coffee or a power-nap. Finally, take time to reflect on the day before leaving the office. Follow these rules and not only will your work improve, but your body will thank you.
