Weezer's Cover Of "Africa" Is Their Biggest Hit in Nearly a Decade The band hit the Billboard Hot 100 with their cover of Toto’s 1982 classic, “Africa.” The song is currently at No. 89, their highest charting song since 2009’s “(If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To” reached No. 81. What started as a fun gesture turned into one of their biggest hits. The cover was willed into existence after a months-long fan campaign begged Weezer to record the track. The artwork includes a tweet from account @weezerafrica. Toto guitarist Steve Lukather has tweeted his approval and says his band plans to record a cover of a Weezer song.
