How Capcom Transformed Monster Hunter From a Cult Classic Into a Triple-A Blockbuster
  • 6 years ago
Monster Hunter: World is bringing about scads of new Monster Hunter fans. The game has been popular in Japan for years, but has only recently caught on in the states. And Capcom is seriously capitalizing on this — Monster Hunter: World has become their fastest selling game ever and this is the company that also brought Street Fighter and Resident Evil. This is, in part, because the game really improved on its accessibility. The franchise is known for its seriously complicated gameplay, that’s especially difficult to navigate for newcomers. Fortunately, Monster Hunter: World is much more user-friendly so more people can join in on the fun.

With that being said, the grind of the game is also what makes it so addicting. The prepping, hunting, carving and crafting really does make it seem like you are slumming through an adventure. This is also what makes rewards that much more — well — rewarding.

It’s also not limited to a handheld device anymore. This is better because those small screens really weren’t doing the beautiful visuals and combat scenes any justice. The game is really giving newcomers a reason to love it, while leaving the satisfying aspects of older games — great job to Capcom for making a truly successful Monster Hunter.
