Denver Zoo Sends Lion Off Into Peaceful Snooze to Provide Veterinary Care

Staff at Denver Zoo anesthetized one of its resident lions in a video shared Tuesday, June 5, in order to provide it with veterinary and dental care.The clip shared to the zoo’s Facebook page shows vet tech Stephanie placing a tube in the lion’s airway so that he can be ventilated during anesthesia.“Have you ever wondered how we safely work with dangerous carnivores? They’re first given an anesthetic injection, and then we’re able to safely enter their stall,” read the video caption.The clip had earned over 20,000 views at the time of writing.
