The race team headed Henderson's Sam Schmidt once again was in the spotlight during Indianapolis 500 qualifications. In a stunning development, Schmidt's top driver James Hinchcliffe was bumped from the 33-car starting field for running too slow. The popular Canadian driver and former "Dancing with the Stars" runner-up was expected to be a contender in Sunday's race. Hinchcliffe, who nearly lost his life in a 2015 crash at Indianapolis, bounced back the following year to earn pole position for the 100th running of the Indy 500. It has been confirmed that Schmidt will not put Hinchcliffe in one of his other cars or seek to purchase a ride for him. “After such a good start to the season, this is a pretty big (disappointment), but it’s not the worst thing in life.”
