T-Mobile and Sprint Agree to Merge in $26 Billion Deal The merge would be the nation’s second-biggest wireless carrier next to Verizon, but it would have to clear antitrust regulations. T-Mobile CEO John Legere said the merged company will be named T-Mobile and deliver “the highest capacity network in US history.” Legere added that the company will hire thousands in order to become the world’s leader in 5G connectivity. The two entities tried to merge back in 2014 but worried about regulatory challenges under the Obama administration.
