Motorcyclist clotheslined by level crossing moments before train passes

This is the dramatic moment a female motorcyclist is knocked off her bike by a level crossing barrier - narrowly missing an oncoming train.

The middle-aged woman was approaching the railway line in Chumphon province, Thailand, on Saturday morning at 8am but was not concentrating on the road ahead.

She failed to notice the huge red and white pole with flashing lights descending - and instead of stopping she only hit the breaks at the last second.

The metal pole clotheslined her and she was trapped under the black Honda motorcycle which had a front tyre on the train tracks.

Station attendent Phijit Meuankaew raced over to the dazed and stricken woman - dragging her to her feet moments before a train speeds by.

Thailand's State Railway Department urged road users to take care around train crossings.

It said: ''The incident occurred at the level crossing area at Lang Suan Railway Station at approximately 7.55am on April 28. This was the 167 Bangkok to Kantang train.

''It was very lucky that the station official saw the accident and ran over. Otherwise, the woman would probably have lost her life and her property would have definitely been damaged.

''This is a reminder to everyone to drive their vehicles with caution and do not take for granted someone you love.''
