S. Korea, U.S. to start joint military drill on Monday as planned

South Korea and the United States will hold their annual military exercise on Monday, as planned, though reportedly with some measures taken to accomodate the inter-Korean summit talks on Friday.
A South Korean military official said Sunday that the Key Resolve drill will be held for two weeks.
It's a computer-simulated drill in two parts -- one, responding to a hypothetical attack by North Korea and, two, an allied counterattack.
Once the first part is over, the allies are expected to conduct a performance evaluation,... rather than training,... on the day of the summit.
A joint drill was carried out last month as well with "lower intensity"... in view of the diplomatic situation on the Korean Peninsula.
