From Mexico: Alejandra Ancheita

It’s well-known that Mexico is facing a human right crisis. Usually when we think of a human right crisis, we think of physical violence, extrajudicial executions, arbitrary detentions and torture, routinely carried out by the state. But there is another set of rights enshrined by the United Nations and international law, and often ignored by nations, and an economic model that puts profits before people. Those are economic, social and cultural rights. Their violation also threatens lives and livelihoods.

On this episode of From Mexico, Laura Carlsen interviews Alejandra Ancheita, lawyer and founder of ProDESC (Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Project) in Mexico City.
