I came across this vintage razor in a flea market, and couldn't pass it up! Initially I confused it with the later Gillette Super razor, but some research pointed me in the right direction. The Gillette Slim razors were known as some of the finest razors of their day, and from this shave you can see that they still perform as well as modern razors. This one has a Gillette date code of L4, which means it was manufactured during the last quarter of 1966. The Gillette Slim razor was manufactured from 1961 through 1968, and has a weight of 71 grams. Interestingly enough, the Gillette adjustables have basically been resurrected from extinction by the Rex Ambassador razor which was just released. (The Rex Ambassador does feature a 2-piece design instead of twist-to-open, but utilizes the classic Gillette adjustment ring.) The performance of this razor is amazing, and I am glad to add it to my collection.
