The Colonoscopy Procedure is a test where they look for ulcers, polyps and tumors in your large intestine (rectum and colon). They insert a thin, flexible tube called a colonoscope in your rectum to see.\r Here is my colonoscopy experience. I hope to inform you and better prepare you for yours.\r \r This video explains how a Colonoscopy Procedure With Sedation works. The sedation drug used is Propafol.\r \r The bigger a colon polyp is, the greater the chance of it being cancerous, especially if it is larger than 1 cm (0.4 in.)\r \r During this procedure, theyll usually remove any polyps and have them biopsied to see if theyre cancerous. \r \r Polyps can turn into cancer over time.\r \r A colonoscopy procedure with sedation typically will go as follows: \r \r No eating the entire day before the procedure. You can only have clear type liquids and jello but you cant have any red colored liquids because it may resemble blood in the intestine.\r \r Food may show up in the colon for the colonoscopy so a day of clear liquids helps clear your colon of solid waste for a better chance of having a clear view of your colon.\r \r Around 6:00PM I had to take this stuff called Suprep Bowel Prep Kit also known as Colon Blow!\r \r You mix one 6 ounce bottle with 12 ounces of water then drink it up.\r \r It was pretty salty and gross tasting and I was gagging it down by the last sips.\r \r In the next hour you also have to drink 32 more ounces of water.\r \r You need to drink so much because your colon is about 5 feet long and it takes that much liquid to clean it out so they can see any polyps or lesions. \r \r After about 2 hours after you drink the Suprep, you really gotta commit to the toilet. Your stomach will be gurgling way before you explode so youll probably have plenty of notice.\r \r After that, its pretty much just like youre pissing out your anus for the next few hours.\r \r Day of The Procedure, I had to consume another crapulicious cocktail of Suprep (another 6 ounce bottle with 12 ounces of water) about 4 hours before the procedure. \r \r Again, a couple hours later I went through the same thing only not as bad but I was squirting out my glory hole right up until the ual procedure .\r \r By this time its just like a yellowish liquid coming out and they say thats what you should be seeing.\r \r I arrived at the hospital an hour early like they suggest and had to fill out some paperwork. \r \r After that, you strip down, put on a gown and hop down in a gurney. They attach some electrode type pads to your chest and stomach and put this thing on your finger to monitor stuff then they stick you with the IV thingy.\r \r From there, they roll you into the procedure room and you hook up with the crew including nurses, doctor and anesthesiologist.\r \r I had to lay on my side then the anesthesiologist hooked me up to the propofol and within a few seconds I was out.\r \r While youre in dreamland, the team parties in your ass and has their fun. \r \r The next thing I knew, I was waking up in a curtained off room next to other patients who were all farting like crazy. It was hilarious!\r \r After you wake up a bit, the nurse should tell you how it all went. It turns out I have internal hemorrhoids, and diverticulitis. They also removed 6 polyps.\r \r Finally, they tell you not to drive or use any heavy equipment for the rest of the day cuz you may still be a bit groggy from the anesthesia.
