রোহিঙ্গা সমস্যাকে আঞ্চলিক স্থিতিশীলতার জন্য গুরুতর হুমকি উল্লেখ করে গভীর উদ্বেগ জানিয়েছেন মালয়েশিয়ার প্রধানমন্ত্রী নাজিব রাজাক। অস্ট্রেলিয়ায় আসিয়ানের দু'দিনব্যাপী বিশেষ সম্মেলনের প্রথম দিনে দেয়া বক্তব্যে তিনি বলেন, এখনই সমস্যাটির সমাধান করা না হলে দক্ষিণপূর্ব এশিয়ায় ভয়াবহভাবে জঙ্গীবাদের বিস্তার ঘটার আশঙ্কা রয়েছে। সম্মেলনের শেষ দিনের বৈঠকে চলমান সমস্যা সমাধানে আসিয়ান সদস্যদের সগযোগিতা কামনা করেন মিয়ানমারের নেত্রী অং সান সু চি।
