A fight broke out in the women's carriage of an Indian train earlier this month with several passengers filmed brawling after an argument over seat reservations.

In the ugly scene, which took place on March 9 in Mumbai, at least four female commuters could be seen screaming, slapping and pulling hair in the packed train carriage.

According to the filmer, fights such as this aren't uncommon in India's women-only train carriages where groups of friends who commute together try to reserve seats.

"They reserve seats for their friends and they don't allow others to sit," the filmer said.

The scrap took place prior to arrival at Vikhroli station on the Central Line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway network.
