France to Set Age of Sexual Consent to 15 The reform is part of a new effort to prevent sexual assault. The law comes after two cases involving 11-year-old girls, where perpetrators were acquitted. Current laws criminalize sex with children under 15, however, it must be proven the sexual act was forced. Once the law is implemented, it will be automatically considered rape to have any sexual activity with someone under the age of 15.
