Ireland's Storm Emma blizzard conditions revealed

Shocking footage has emerged showing the harsh blizzard conditions that struck Ireland last week during Storm Emma.

In the video, filmed near Blessington, County Wicklow in east Ireland, cars lie abandoned on the road amid heavy snowfall while the wind audibly whips in.

The filmer checks inside the cars to see if anyone was stuck inside, but fortunately the vehicles are empty.

Irish police at the time had advised locals to avoid travelling on certain roads altogether while parts of County Wicklow were flooded or left without power.

Storm Emma, which made landfall in southwest England early on March 1, reached Ireland later the same day, coming on the heels of the "Beast from the East" polar vortex.
