China to End Two-Term Limit on Presidency China's Communist party proposed to scrap the two-term limit for presidency, meaning Xi Jinping would be able to remain in office after 2023. China's laws currently prohibit the president and vice president to stay beyond two five-year terms. Jinping has been president since 2013 and was supposed to finish his term in 2023 under the current system.
