Trump: Democrats Have 'Totally Forgotten' About DACA
  • 6 years ago
President Trump on Friday said that Democrats have "totally forgotten" about DACA.

President Trump on Friday slammed Democrats over the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.
"For those of you who are still interested, the Democrats have totally forgotten about DACA. Not a lot of interest on this subject from them!" Trump tweeted.
This is one of many tweets the president has recently posted on DACA.
"Republicans want to fix DACA far more than the Democrats do. The Dems had all three branches of government back in 2008-2011, and they decided not to do anything about DACA. They only want to use it as a campaign issue," Trump tweeted on February 10.
On the other hand, Democrats like Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer have criticized Trump for his negotiating tactics.
"Negotiating with President Trump is like negotiating with Jell-O," Schumer said during the government shutdown in January. "It's impossible to negotiate with a constantly moving target."
Trump announced in September that he would be ending the DACA program and gave lawmakers until March 5 to come up with a legislative solution for 'Dreamers,' undocumented immigrants brought into the U.S. as children.
However, NPR notes, "with ongoing court battles over the program, DACA will almost certainly stay in place beyond March 5. Two separate federal courts have blocked the president from ending the program."
